Why did the koala cross the road?

Why?
To find a mate!
That's what's happening round here this time of year. Koalas leaving their safe high trees and traversing across roads, front lawns and parklands, dodging cars, people and dogs, some more successfully than others. Those that find themselves on the wrong end of a battle are cared for at the Koala Hospital in Port Macquarie, where they are tended and released when they have recovered from their dangerous journey.

Never a dull moment in the life of a koala! Well this season at least!

Sometimes you have to take risks to get to where you want to go and to do what you want to do. It's not 'meant to be easy', so some famous politician said once about life, but I do hope along the way we all find purpose and meaning in our days.
Our days these past weeks have been quite a mix of interesting and ordinary things from walking along beaches spotting whales, eagles and dolphins, the next dodging lightening and heavy rain as Phil dared me to run out to the edge of the breakwater and back. Got soaked, but obviously not fritzed. Sometimes it's fun to be scared and crazy.
Then other times its the challenge of finding God in the ordinary, the mundane, the meetings, the stuff that has to be done, the to-finish lists, the every day work of being in an office.

It's always a good day when I've taken the time to listen, learn, laugh and let go of the need to get it right, fix everything and be just what everyone needs. Sounds as exhausting and dangerous as a koala crossing a road.

Phil is off to Sydney tomorrow and will return on Monday with our son Scott and another golfer from Tassie in tow. They will be competing in three Pro-Am events this next week and Phil is looking forward to caddying for Scott. I think he heard something about Tiger Wood's caddy being the top earning sportsman in New Zealand last year. So Phil has aspirations and is already spending his 10% of the winnings. (Only jokin') I've spent it!!!

It will be a welcome change of pace as Phil has been busy working here at New Tribes Mission as well as picking up some casual work at a local Funeral Home.

Like I said, never a dull moment in the life of a Koala.
