Business as Usual and Upcoming Big Events

February has begun and life is in full swing here at New Tribes Mission Headquaters for the staff and students.
I've begun my new role as Academic Dean, assisting staff and students in the cross-cultural church planting training course we offer here at Laurieton.

I work with a great team of lecturers and staff and we are running two lecture rooms with different classes for the two year groups on campus.

Phil has been busy working at the Funeral Home, even picking up some work at Forster, about 45 minutes drive south from Laurieton. He spent a week and a half down there with me visiting over a weekend where we house sat for the couple who were on holiday.

We also, wait for it, looked after their cat and believe it or not, Phil actually let the cat cuddle up and sleep on his bed. Mmm, for a guy who loves cats but couldn't eat a whole one, I was rather surprised.

Phil had a great but short trip to the USA mid-January. It was full of meetings with very little time for much looking around. He did enjoy a fantastic drive through Arizona, beautiful country. He passed through Tombstone and saw the OK Corral for those who love Westerns. He also enjoyed a game of golf in Florida, but was told not to retrieve any balls that went into the waterways as he might lose his hand to an alligator. All very interesting.

We enjoyed a great trip inland to Wingham to visit an old friend from Tassie who has married a lovely man from the area and is developing an Artisan's retreat, coffee shop and gallery. We had fun finding their place, catching up and enjoying coffee while overlooking the beautiful Manning Valley.

Will have to take photos next time. Been a bit lazy on that lately.

Well, I must confess!!! I'm turning 50 next week. I know, who would have thought and all that. I do feel 20 something on the inside, but hey, the outside is another story.

We'll be spending time with Jason and Craig in Brisbane to celebrate the Big Day and will be watching them jump out of a perfectly good aeroplane on Saturday, skydiving. Definitely not for me. I'm now officially to old for those sort of shennanigans but not some other ones, hopes Phil.

Will post some photos of me looking 50 next time. Only good comments please!!!!!! I'm feeling fragile in my dotage!!!!
