Life's tough!

Well, I (Phil) have finally got back to my office after a luncheon appointment over a bowl of home-made soup by Maria. The soup was delicious and the discussion stimulating. It is great to sit down with people and try and devise ways of moving forward more effectively and efficiently.

Both Di and I have felt a little more settled over the past week. We still miss home – the people not the weather!!! – with all of our family and friends.

Last weekend we spent exploring some more of the local community. We did this by both road and kayak and thoroughly enjoyed it.

This weekend is Mother’s Day of course, so we are meeting our two Brisbanites half way and spending the weekend together. We are really looking forward to that, but also wishing Scott could be there also. We chat to him fairly regularly on the phone though, which helps.

Both Di and I are spending time working on roles at Laurieton that are enabling us to gain an understanding of how things work here and how they may be improved. But we have been making time most days for some relaxation – if you can call walking 3-4 kilometres through soft sand relaxing! The temperature here has been between 24 and 30 degrees every day, so swimming has still been an option for us, of which we have indulged a number of times.
Sometimes Di gets bored so last Saturday Dye died – no wait – Di dyed my hair. Yep, am I now an orange-haired blonde wannabe!

Trust you all have a great week and a wonderful Mother’s Day – well the mums anyway – and enjoy the flowers, gifts, and time with your family.
